Packed Out

This weekend McMurdo hosted the first Banff Film Festival in Antarctica. The galley was overflwoing with people watching films on rock climbing, mountain climbing, mountain biking, ski lift riding, fishing and paragliding. As you can imagine the place was also overflowing with adrenaline since most people here are either a rock climber, mountain climber, mountain biker, ski lift rider, fisherman paraglider or a combination of these things. I'd like to find one person down here that does none of those activites. Anyway, it was pretty awesome and a nice start to the weekend, which was as usual was very short. I joined Andrea half way through her 'night' of sleep for church and then played volleyball and basketball and went to the first screening of a National Geographic Documentary on emperor penguins. A lot of the same stuff as 'March of the Penguins' except that it was more science focused and McMurdo got some recognition.

I was at the Ice Runway today inspecting the underside of the firefighter's building and accidentally crawled through some penguin poo. Can't say that has ever happened to me on a job before, but at least it was frozen.

Not much else going on. Town is gearing up for Halloween on Saturday and the sun is getting high and bright.
